This attractive rainstick has been made from a length of naturally fallen cactus. After being dried, the hardened spines are pushed back through into the hollow body of the instrument, which is then filled with tiny gravel before the ends are sealed. The cactus's spines allow for the gravel to trickle slowly down through the obstructions making a beautiful rain like sound. As the length of the stick increases, the length of the aural rainstorm does too.The origin of rainsticks is believed to lie with the Aztecs and it is thought they were ritually used in attempts to bring about rainstorms. These rainsticks are handmade in Chile and feature a brightly coloured strip of decorative Chilean fabric.Approx: 5cm ∅ × 50cmThis is a natural product and shapes will vary slightly.
